Aadhaar PDF password format - how to open e-Aadhaar

Check the email or download screen hint. If it is missing, ask the issuer or sender. Do not assume that a reported pattern applies to your file.

First four letters of the resident's name as printed on the Aadhaar, in CAPITALS, followed by the four-digit birth year (YYYY). Spaces are skipped when counting letters; punctuation is kept (UIDAI example: P. KUMAR, born 1990 gives P.KU1990). Short names are not padded: UIDAI's example RIA, born 1990, gives RIA1990 (one blog says use the full name for names under four letters, which conflicts). These reports use the birth year, not the full date of birth. Some sources describe this as a fixed UIDAI rule, but it is not confirmed here by UIDAI.

Choose one non-empty PDF up to 50 MB. Processing also depends on your browser and available device memory; a complex file may fail even below this limit.

Will this change my PDF?
